All nature of people are embracing Social Media to share their message with others. The Oregon Legislature is no different, and they are doing it with a sense of humor.
In a showing of bipartisanship, the Oregon Legislature has created a video showing them slipping the lyrics to Rick Astley’s 1987 song “Never Gonna Give You Up” into their speeches on the House floor last year. They subtlety intertwined the lyrics into their speeches on the house floor.
The mastermind of the video, Rep. Jefferson Smith–a 37-year old Portland Democrat– says he wants to bring people to politics instead of driving them away with partisan “venom”.
The video was released on April Fools Day and went viral right away. Most responses have been positive, applauding the politicians for having a little fun.
