WordPress Plugin – JetPack

WordPress Plugin - JetPackAre you interested in the features of WordPress.com blogs, but want to use them on your existing blog on your WordPress content managements system website? There may be a simple solution. WordPress.com has released a plugin called JetPack. JetPack allows you to use a number of the valued features of WordPress.com on your self-hosted site.

What Does It Do?
Released in March of 2011, the JetPack offers the following features, with the promise of more to come.

  1. You can access WordPress.com stats without extra load on your server.
  2. You can use the WP.me URL shortener.
  3. Commenters can have hovercard popups via Gravatar.
  4. You can easily embed media from sites like YouTube, Vimeo, Scribd, PollDaddy, Flickr, and Digg.
  5. If you are so inclined, you can include mathematical expressions, and they’ll even look good.
  6. You can display recent tweets from Twitter.
  7. Your readers can share your posts via email or social networks with the click of a button.
  8. There is an artificial intelligence based spelling, style, and grammar checker called After the Deadline.

Many of these tools were previously available via a number of different plugins, but now you’ve got them all in one place.
Something to note: This pack requires log in to WordPress.com, so you’ll need to have an account there to make these features work.

If you are using the robust and user-friendly WordPress content management system, consider supplementing it with the JetPack to help you really pack a punch.
